October Newsletter
Dear La Crosse Area ASHRAE members,
It is a great honor to be your chapter President for our 2024-2025 ASHRAE year. It is both an exciting challenge and a privilege to serve. The La Crosse Area Chapter of ASHRAE is celebrating its 53rd anniversary in 2025. The Chapter was chartered on April 10, 1972. During these 53 years, we have been able to accomplish positive impacts to the Society and local community. Your Chapter officers and committee members are below. We are looking for a Newsletter chair. Please reach out to me if you want to volunteer. It will not take much of your time per month, but it is a great enabler for membership communication.
I have been traveling the country and the world as an ASHRAE distinguish lecturer and have visited many chapters and their regions to see their Chapter operations and organizations. There are so many chapters of our membership size within large geographic areas or with similar size chapter membership within large population centers. The one thing that makes our Chapter unique is the size of our membership within a small geographic location and small population centers. Also, we have the most technical breath and knowledge of any Chapter I have seen in my journey’s. Our chapter is extremely fortunate to have such a great pool of local HVACR equipment manufacturers and users of HVACR equipment, but we are weak on architects, owners/developers, engineers and contractors.
The last couple of years beyond COVID have been difficult on our membership but I believe we have emerged, and things are looking up! Membership is growing again and participation at in person events is growing. In person attendance is still down, but I am optimistic this year we will turn that corner as well. Membership has reached 142. Below are new members since April 1st, 2024. Please reach out and welcome these members to the Chapter.
Our dedicated Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC) is being led by Kassie Lenertz and Rafael Dutra is building a technical program that aligns with our members interests. Our tentative program is as follows for the 24-25 season.
Another great strength of the LSE Area Chapter is our Young Engineers of ASHRAE aka YEA committee led by Edith Luveina Joseph which has been very active over the years. Thank you, Gabe Korinek, for continuing the YEA momentum the last few years with organizing some great events. Remember – OEA (Old Engineers of ASHRAE) are welcome to participate at these YEA events and it is encouraged to provide your wisdom and knowledge, especially on trivia nights.
I am sure there is more to share with you, but this is a good start
Sincerely,
Your 2024-2025 La Crosse Area Chapter President – Steve Kujak
